First Exhibition
Well it looks as though I am about to enter my first exhibition in South Australia and it is the ‘South Australian Living Artist Festival’ (SALA).
I’ve created a video of me working away on my latest work, which will be included in the exhibition. I hope you like it.
The festival takes place during the entire month of August and I have been lucky enough to secure a great venue, which is the Brighton Food and Wine Bar.
First print goes to ….
In my first blog I asked those that would like to be involved, to send me a photo that you thought might make a good painting. Thanks to all those who participated. This is something I would like to continue to do every couple of months. I will post a reminder for the next round in May. Rita loves South Australia and she sent me a scene of a Canola crop near Jamestown. I loved it and I hope you like the painting. Rita your print will be on it’s way soon. Thanks again for getting involved.
Inspiration
I have only been painting for a few years now and continue to enjoy it immensely. If you get the chance to try painting, I would encourage you to have a go! I am learning more every time I pick up a paintbrush.
I am looking for inspiration to paint some new pieces and I thought a great idea would be to ask you all if you have any photos, recent or past, that you think would make a great painting. If I choose your photo then I would use it as a reference for my painting and you would get a high quality print of the finished piece, free of charge.
I’m hoping to do this on a regular basis, so I’m happy to receive shots at any time. The higher the quality the better.
As an example, I recently saw a photograph online that was taken by Karen who is a local at Walker Flat, on the Murray River in South Australia. I loved the photo and asked Karen if I could use it as a guide. She very kindly agreed.
Here is the finished painting. (11/4/23 - Actually not finished. I plan to visit the site and attempt to paint more depth into the piece)
